What could be better than camping? (from Geoff's point of view) Camping with an engine . .
We'd like to introduce Florence. She's a fully loaded VW T5 conversion with everything from a pop top, gas hob and fridge to pioneer touch screen radio, electric hook up and detachable awnings.
Before we release her for hire (very very soon) we though we'd share a few exterior photos.
When we bought her, paint was peeling off the bumpers, the sliding door was rather dented and there was a pretty deep scuff on one of the wheel arches... she was also a rather dull cream in colour.
The condition of Florence gave us the opportunity to do something a little different. Rather than just see to the body work and spray the bumpers, we decided to give her a massive makeover.
Starting with the front end, we removed everything from the bonnet to the bumper (inc the headlights) and replaced it with the T5.1 front end. This included a brand new bonnet, grille, badge, LED lights, daytime running LEDs, new style bumper and upgraded splitter. All supplied unpainted, Sud's Law (valeting and detailing specialists next door) worked their magic in the spray booth to colour code the front with the body.
Next came the side door. We removed this totally so that it could go over to the Sud's Law body shop to be smoothed out, filled and sprayed (and they did a cracking job). We then refitted it (with great difficulty)
The rear bumper was next to be removed. This too was pretty unsalvageable paint wise, so Sud's colour matched a new bumper to the rest of the van before we refitted it and added a chrome top plate.
Following her bodywork, Suds took the whole van for a complete mop to bring her colour back - the results speak for themselves.
BEFORE:
Both front and rear bumpers had paint peeling off, a scuff or two and had discoloured.
AFTER:
We fitted a full new front end, T5.1 upgrade with daytime running lights, chrome trim grille and splitter. Gloss black wing mirrors. (and personalised CG plate)
We also added some sturdy Range Rover alloys, chrome side bars, tinted wind deflectors and a rear spoiler.
Hope you like her as much as we do !
